Biography

Atira Tan is a TEDx speaker, author, somatic trauma specialist, educator, and activist with over two decades of experience supporting women, men, and children, particularly survivors of sexual abuse and complex trauma. With a background in international development, Atira has worked on the front lines as a trauma specialist in refugee camps and disaster zones and with survivors of war and torture. She is widely recognized for her advocacy in women’s rights and reproductive health, especially through her work with sex-trafficked survivors across Asia and the Pacific. Founder of the charity, Art to Healing, she and her team have supported thousands of women and their communities in breaking cycles of slavery, trauma, and oppression. Passionate about creating safer spaces for all, Atira bridges clinical and ceremonial worlds with depth, integrity, and compassion. As the Director of Preparation and Integration at AYA Healing Retreats for over 7 years, Atira is the pioneer of the Trauma-Informed Plant Medicine Facilitator Training and the Somatic Plant Medicine Integration Program. Atira has played a key role in shaping psychedelic-assisted facilitator trainings worldwide, sharing her expertise with organizations such as ICEERS, the Plant Spirit School, Synthesis, BMed, and Inward Bound, and is the co-director of the Somatic Psychedelic Facilitator Certificate with The Embody Lab.
