Biography

Wilbert Salas Atasi was born in the district of Colcha, Cusco, Peru. As a young child growing up in Colcha, Wilbert was immersed in the experience and wisdom of the Andean tradition and ceremonies. His life was surrounded with devotion to these principles which were present in everyday life. He was also baptized in the Catholic church, and he has found it to be compatible with the Andean philosophy and teachings.

Wilbert attended Primary School in his home town, and then walked some 2 ½ hours distance from his home to Paruro to attend High School. Following High School Wilbert attended University where he studied Accounting, Tourism, and Guiding. Within the guiding curriculum Wilbert became proficient in a number of languages including English, French, and German, in addition to Spanish and his native language of Rune Simi.

Learning from, and exchanging techniques and teachings, with many healers known as Paqos or Hampiq Runa, and following their traditional teachings and practices, Wilbert finds that it enhances and strengthens his awareness of what the Andean culture has to offer the world.

Today, Wilbert is happy and proud to share his wisdom with all who are genuinely interested in participating in the ceremonies and healing practices passed down from his lineage. We are honored to have Wilbert as an Ambassador and member of the Team here at Shamans Directory.
